Programme Overview

Intermediate competence in Korean enables learners to move beyond memorised beginner exchanges and participate in longer, more purposeful communication. At this level, learners need broader vocabulary, stronger control of grammar and sentence organisation, increased Hangeul reading fluency, improved listening stamina and the confidence to manage everyday, academic, travel, digital and professional interactions.

This standalone Intermediate Level programme is the second stage of the Ziveka Campus Korean Language and Communication pathway. It is designed for learners who have successfully completed the Foundation Level or can demonstrate equivalent competence through placement assessment. Across two semesters, learners develop from supported routine communication towards increasingly independent speaking, reading and writing in familiar and moderately demanding contexts.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, learners will be able to:

Understand the main points of clear speech and moderately extended conversations on familiar personal, social, study and work-related topics.
Hangeul fluently, use Korean digital input efficiently and interpret a wider range of notices, messages and graded texts.
Describe experiences, routines, people, places, plans and responsibilities using connected sentences and appropriate time expressions.
Participate in conversations involving travel, health, shopping, services, appointments, education, teamwork and everyday problem-solving
Complete an integrated Intermediate communication project and demonstrate readiness for the Advanced Level.

Student performance is evaluated through:

Continuous assessments (quizzes, assignments, speaking tasks)
Oral examinations (conversation-based evaluation)
Listening comprehension tests
Final written examination
Practical communication project

Class Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Schedule Options: Weekdays or weekends
